CHICAGO — Washington Mystics Coach Eric Thibault isn’t focusing on the standings with his team, emphasizing improvement each game instead. The strategy is paying off. The Mystics notched their third straight win of the season Wednesday night, surging in the fourth quarter to defeat the Chicago Sky 74-70 at Wintrust Arena.
Thibault's mindset has allowed the Mystics to stay grounded during a season full of ups and downs. Despite injuries and inconsistent performances earlier in the year, Washington has found their rhythm at a critical moment. With just a handful of games left, the team has clawed its way back into the playoff conversation, refusing to let their postseason chances slip away.
Aaliyah Edwards led the charge, not just with her scoring but with key defensive plays that helped spark the late rally. The Mystics entered the fourth quarter trailing but outscored Chicago 22-15 in the final period, showing resilience and determination when it mattered most.
While the victory keeps their playoff hopes alive, the Mystics still face an uphill battle with tough competition ahead. For now, the team remains focused on taking it one game at a time, continuing to push for the postseason without the distraction of the standings.
